Daily journal November 6, 2000, Glasgow, Scotland, crossing the Irish Sea to Belfast.

The most beautiful country in the world surely as here as we drove North into Scotland and stopped at the shopping center where the old Blacksmith Shop is and an outlet mall. The rain is blinding but we can still see the beauty of the rolling hills and of all the sheep that white all the hills. Somehow I want to get out there with them and feel their Wool. We've got another roadside hotel just outside of Glasgow due to the early darkness and blinding fog, the people were very helpful and a restaurant food court was all inside next door to the Welcome Hotel at a rest stop on the freeway. I had a vegetable burger from Burger King but of course I realized it may be fried in damaging oil hydrogenated. The Hotel send a fax home for us free of charge which was friendly and nice for this world. There are many museums here and in the neighboring city of Edinburgh. I sure am impressed with some of the art but slow due to traffic and is very hard to find your way around and-to visit these museums. It would take a week and we have part of one day.

The art show here I most want to see is entitled 'Man Walks Among Us' at St. Mungo's Museum. 'The furious pity of Jesus'. A sculpture by Kenny Hunter. This is a Museum of religious art and life where the show stays up till April 1, 2001. To mark the millennium, Glasgow Museums has commissioned a contender artist to create an image of Jesus for the 21st century. This commission marks a significant anniversary in the Christian calendar and underlines the city's commitment to supporting contemporary art. The artist were asked to respond to the life of Jesus are reflect on the teaching and work of Jesus. They were also asked to include a short written statement with their submission to the committee. Kenny Hunter won; " he enters a wilderness of the soul, were all the out pouring of his imagination are in terms misunderstood, rebuffed, ignored, mocked and would eventually result in his death. As well as this sense of separation from the rest of us, he displays a double sited nature. On the one hand and enormous compassion for the human condition, on the other hand we find in him a burning anger against all systems, religion or politics, that come between God and the poor of the earth. This anger and compassion, this curious pity, is what I aim to capture in the face of Christ. So often in the history of art Christ is depicted frozen and passive. To counter this I intend to portray him active,walking,Christ walking alone,walking,an activity which so often accompanies our reveries, our moments of conflict and clarity”. Artist Kenny Hunter was born in Edinburgh in 1962 and trained at Glasgow School of Art. The sculpture appears on the front page of Friends Review, a magazine of Glasgow Museums. Thank you Lord for a safe trip and may every minute count as we meet people and as we reflect hopefully and prayerfully a Christian nature. May we discover the best in every person we meet and learn about during this trip. May joy flow freely in our souls. The highlands of Scotland more or less lie North and East of a vast mountain area reaching to the North Sea, may be larger than all of England and Ireland together. I hope we can travel there someday and discover this beautiful area of the world for which we feel so akin to. We love them all.

The BBC TV is showing a Welsh Catholic Priest reported assault on his altar boys, also girls and women. I am reminded of the Catholic financed war in Northern Ireland and that it is indeed a war against Protestants. God will judge all these violations in his time.
